It is the classical tour to visit the Perito Moreno Glacier without physical demands and with plenty of time to explore the National Park’s walkways and balconies.
The guided tour departs from your hotel in El Calafate and, after a journey of 80km through a succession of lakes, streams, forests and snowy mountains we arrive at the west end of the Magellan’s Peninsula, where the walkways complex and visitor’s area is located.
The walkways are arranged in several levels that allow you to see the glacier from different angles and balconies. Plenty of time will be granted to walk through the walkways and appreciate the Perito Moreno Glacier upfront. According to your fitness level, you will be able to reach the lowest balcony, which is the nearest to the glacier, or only get to the first balcony which is easily accessible for everyone and from where you have a spectacular view. An elevator is currently operating to facilitate access to the first balcony to people with reduced mobility.
Includes a one-hour boat ride in front of the south face of the glacier.
Once the tour is finished, you return to El Calafate.
During this tour you will appreciate some of the best panoramic views of the city. We leave from downtown and border Lake Nahuel Huapi along E. Bustillo Avenue, passing by places such as Playa Bonita where the legendary Huemul Island can be appreciated (a site that has witnessed a very important part of the history of our country). Further on, between bays and forests, we reach the wonderful Cerro Campanario, where it is optional to ascend by chairlift to the summit (1050mts), one of 8 better views of the world, with a really impressive 360° panorama. After the descent, we continue along this avenue where we can appreciate from the plain, several of the tourist spots seen from the hill. We visit the beautiful San Eduardo chapel and then we go to the 5 star Gran Hotel, golf course and natural reserve Llao Llao.
From this Pañuelo port at 1pm, where the boat sets sail. First, we will sail to Victoria Island, visiting its central part in a guided walk across the old nursery, where different exotic tree species, including Sequoias, may be appreciated. The island has places to have lunch and places to have picnics. We will then embark again until we reach the Quetrihué Peninsula, where the Bosque de Arrayanes National Park is located. There we will go through this wonderful forest in a circuit of approximately 45 minutes.
This excursion begins heading south of the national park, going down Route 40 and skirting the Gutierrez and Mascardi lakes. At the height of the Manso River, one of the largest rivers in the region, you will enter the roaring lands of Cerro Tronador through a gravel road… Show More From the base of the Cerro Tronador you start your way back to town. Show Less
Further on, between imposing mountains opens the Pampa Linda, a beautiful valley with multiple view points.
There you will have free time and choose where to have a delicious lunch. Depending on the season, you cano walk trails or lie down in the fresh grass and relax.
The Ventisquero Negro beauty spot is our next stop. There the snow and the wind built this amazing black glacier. Behind and conquering the heights, the Tronador, an inactive volcano loaded with ancient ice, will leave you speechless.
The Cerro Tronador is the highest in the National Park, 3554 m.a.s.l., it has seven white glaciers at its summit and bears its name in reference to its landslides, which emit sounds similar to thunder.
